V House, DESIGNED BY Atelier Alejandro Borrego
FROM THE ARCHITECTS
The V House was born from the client’s poetic desires. It takes shape as a balcony overlooking the ocean, perched atop a hill that allows a 360-degree panorama of sea, mountains, and sweeping sunsets. Greenery is ever-present throughout the design. The house is conceived as an interplay between full and empty architectural spaces. This creates a light, fluid roof held by a metallic canopy that protects against Lombok’s heavy rain and intense sun. While sculptural in form, the home remains practical and efficient — every element serves a purpose, supporting livability. All spaces face south toward the Indian Ocean. Wooden panels shape the structure and can be fully opened to invite the surrounding landscape inward, or closed for privacy. The open design maximizes views from every part of the home and is complemented by the contrast of dark Ulin wood, sand-colored cement floors, and clean, simple lines. The resulting atmosphere is serene, peaceful, and deeply connected to place.
