MSLAN Corner is a teahouse designed along the sloping lakeside terrain at CPI Luhu in Chengdu. Inspired by the small courtyards typical of Minnan villages, the courtyard platform and overall layout emphasize openness and transparency, inviting the landscape into the architecture.
The teahouse uses salvaged timber and old stone slabs from Fujian, preserving their natural texture and warmth to create a simple, grounded atmosphere. In a nod to sustainable material use, the architects incorporated tea residue boards—made from recycled stems and leaves—into furniture and detailing, allowing the scent and memory of tea to linger in the physical space.
Rather than focusing on elaborate ceremony, the space encourages casual, everyday tea enjoyment. It’s a place to pause and recharge, echoing the philosophy of “sharing tea and wandering.”
Large floor-to-ceiling windows dissolve the boundary between indoors and out, extending views of the lake and garden deep into the interior. Each corner offers a unique atmosphere, making every visit feel like a new moment of “tea time by the lake.”
